Whatcha Say: Beyonce, Beysus and Queen Bey Got Our Readers Talking

Last week, Beyonce got our readers all riled up in anticipation of her Super Bowl halftime show. As for this week? I swear it’s deja vu…’cause it was all about Queen Bey once again! The superstar’s fiery performance at the event–complete with a Destiny’s Child reunion and a 30-minute power outage thereafter (hereby known as Bey’s Blackout)–got tongues wagging (and dragging!) from Beyhive-bred lovers, haters and casual fans alike.

The numbers came in–the show was a hit! (It better be–it was over five months in the making.) But was it as successful as last year’s show with Madonna? The conversation amongst our readers grew into a roaring debate once we dared to ask: Which halftime show was better? And then, there was the announcement of Bey’s upcoming tour: “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.” (And those not-so-flattering photos!) So, we just have one final question to ask during this relentless Week of Beysus: Who run the world?

:: ptizzy wasn’t thrown into much a tizzy during Bey’s performance on Beyonce’s Halftime Performance Features Destiny’s Child & Much Hair Flipping: “I feel like this performance fluctuated too much to call it epic. When you try to encompass too much of your career into the allotted time (12 minutes last time I checked) things get constrained.. and sadly, I feel like this was the case for her.”

:: Meanwhile, Mm provided a thoughtful assessment on Beyonce & Destiny’s Child At The Super Bowl: Review Revue: “I don’t think Beyonce’s goal was to make a Madonna sized circus. It seemed more to be to make an honest rock-star halftime show without overproducing or over-stimulating. I mean, Madonna’s was AMAZING. But not every show has to rely on huge amounts of people, sets and costume changes let alone the use of M.I.A., Nicki Minaj, LMFAO, and Cee-Lo. Beyonce did it her way and it was fantastic.”

:: Qas wasn’t so impressed on Beyonce’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Required Five Months Of Rehearsal, Says Beyonce: “All this media hype about that show being outstanding and stunning is a bunch of baloney.”

:: Neither was Mechie, who was thoroughly un-dazzled: “Dazzling?!?!? That’s truly over-stretching. She barely sang.maybe she was trying to yodel.”

:: When it came time to compare the shows, Roccodangleboss suggested it’s about time for Madge to hang it up on Beyonce’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Falls Short Of Madonna’s Viewership Record & Ratings: “Madonna is a great performer, but the only thing she proved with her halftime performance was her irrelevance. Beyonce did an outstanding job of showcasing what she’s achieved so far in a 12 minute action packed set that she *deserved* to perform.”

::  But JM had the Queen of Pop’s back: “People always tease Madonna as an OLD HAG and yet, despite haters believing she has no pull, Madonna still had more people watching her than the game itself, and even way more than a YOUNGER performer, Beyonce.”

:: When it all came down to it, Raul focused on what really mattered–Kelly Rowland: “Comparing Beyonce to Madonna is like comparing the proverbial apples and oranges. That said, Beyonce did come off a tad boring with all that hair twirling and gyrating, nothing new. Only thing I enjoyed was the short-lived appearance of Destiny’s Child, I love me some Kelly Rowland (which can outsing the Queen Bey anyday)!”

:: Ronald agreed that the divas should drop their weapons and allow a true music lover to entertain the world on Beyonce Vs. Madonna, Who Had The Better Halftime Show?: Idolator Is Taking The Debate To Twitter: “Both divas had said good things about each other and so we should not compare them with each other. I want another diva for 2014 Superbowl half-time! Mariah or Christina Aguilera should do it!”
