Taylor Swift chatted with Ryan Seacrest Thursday (February 7) and revealed that she has nabbed the opening slot at the Grammys this Sunday (the show’s executive producer Ken Ehrlich promises it’s “a Taylor we’ve never seen before”). Swift told Seacrest that after securing a performance spot on the show, she got a surprise call from the Grammy committee. “Like a week ago they call us and are like, ‘Oh, by the way, you’re opening the show.’…It just surprised me I was going to go first.” I think we all know what face she was making when she received that news.
And because it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift interview without a discussion of matters of the heart, Ryan asked her what her Valentine’s Day plans are. And they are just the saddest: “I’m probably going to be with my friends or rehearsing…I’ll be like working on the lighting rig and like the lighting cues.” Taylor Swift: owner of a lonely heart, and a lighting rig.
But don’t worry about Tay-Tay, she’s fine. She told Seacrest this past year has been the best year of her career, “hands down.” (And it’s only getting better, as she got to meet The Game at the gym!) Swift also talked about her next single, “22,” and how the song took inspiration from spending time with her friends. She has “like 15 best friends,” just like any well-adjusted lady in her twenties does. Hear the full interview at RyanSeacrest.com.
