First came that Instagram photo. On January 16 2 Chainz posted a picture of him standing next to Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz, and its caption asked, “Fall Out Boyz feat. 2 Chainz?” The notion seemed preposterous, but then came the Chicago band’s new song and video, starring the Atlanta rapper as a pyromaniac. So by last night (February 16), when 2 Chainz joined Fall Out Boy on stage for new single “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up),” all — finally! — began to make sense.

Fall Out Boy was performing to kick off the NBA All-Star Weekend’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest when 2 Chainz teleported on stage, announced himself (“2 CHAINZZZZZ,” of course) and then asserted that he gets more heat than a fire truck, before — wait for it — a ratchet beat kicks in. Fall Out Boy’s album may be called Save Rock & Roll (out April 16), but they sure know what makes for a current rap hit. Watch the performance up top.
