The Script’s “If You Could See Me Now” Video: Watch The Band Lament Lost Loved Ones (And Rap!)

After enlisting will.i.am for their most recent hit “Hall Of Fame,” The Script‘s members themselves take a stab at spitting some rhymes on new single “If You Could See Me Now.” The song itself is a heartstring-tugger about the Irish lads’ wishing their fallen family members could see all the success they’ve collectively achieved as a band in recent years. After all, once your song gets butchered dozens of times during American Idol auditions (we’re looking at you, “Breakeven”), you’ve truly made it!

As for the video, it’s a lot of frontman Danny O’Donoghue looking angsty in a sleeveless tee, sitting on a bed, while recycled concert footage is also peppered throughout the clip. (Did we really just catch a glimpse of a girl who shaved a Script album title into the side of her head?)

Overall, the rapping here makes the band come across a bit more “boy band” than “pop-rock,” but, hey — all the ladies out there with #3 etched on the side of their noggins will be pleased and reaching for the Kleenex.
