Daft Punk Confirm Signing With Columbia, Tease Comeback With New Photo

The hotly anticipated Daft Punk comeback that the band teased a few weeks ago gets a little more official: The French synthpop duo’s official web page got a makeover today with a shiny new high-tech promo image (of helmets, somewhat inexplicably) not-so-subtly marked with the Columbia Records logo, confirming earlier reports that Daft Punk had left their longtime label EMI for Columbia.

There isn’t much else to report about it, but suffice it to say that Daft Punk are doing a pretty good job of maintaining our interest by keeping us completely in the dark. As Spin notes, there were reports last year that the pair were working with the iconic Nile Rodgers (news that will surely excite ye Adam Lambert fans, no?), but they’re a year behind on Rodgers’ projected timeline.

Call it harder, better, slower, stronger. Genius takes time, right?
