Occasionally here at Idolator, we like to kick off our shoes so our weary feet can rest, sit back with a glass of expensive $2.99 wine and simply unwind to some beautiful, introspective music. One such tune that fits the bill tonight: Bright Light Bright Light‘s live piano demo of brand new song “In Your Care.”

Rod Thomas, the mastermind of the BL x 2 project, recently relocated from London to Brooklyn, and “In Your Care” reflects a new surge of creativity running through him — something particularly obvious in the confessional song’s opening line. “Life is easy living in New York, streets are loud so I never have to talk,” Thomas sings with a fragile voice, atop moody piano chords. Late he admits, “Life is good out here in New York, I miss my friends, I miss the rain / but I catch of glimpse of you, there in the rear view.”

Bright Light Bright Light’s Make Me Believe In Hope landed on our Best Albums Of 2012 list in December. After listening to “In Your Care” below, it’s not hard to imagine that he’ll wind up at such great heights once more.
