Ed Sheeran Mashes Up “Thrift Shop” & “No Diggity” On ‘Fifi & Jules’: Watch

Ed Sheeran has a magical ability to turn any song into a heartbreaking mopeathon (which might be set to change with his next album!), although we didn’t expect to see him put his signature stylings on a tune like Blackstreet‘s iconic “No Diggity” — but that’s exactly what he did when he hit the Australian talk show Fifi & Jules with assistance from his opening act, the English singer-songwriter Passenger, to mix up Blackstreet’s hit with the current Macklemore & Ryan Lewis chart-topper “Thrift Shop.”

A lovely acoustic rendition of “No Diggity” leads seamlessly into a few bars of “Thrift Shop” before Sheeran and Passenger do a proper mash-up, harmonizing over each other; it’s a nifty gimmick, and the eruption of cheers from the crowd sort of says it all about how effective it was. Watch up top.
