Lana Del Rey’s “American” Covered By Fifth Harmony: Watch

The ladies of Fifth Harmony are at it again. After posting a lovely in-studio cover of Frank Ocean‘s “Thinkin Bout You,” the X Factor almost-winners have taken a stab at Lana Del Rey‘s “American.” Here, the Paradise track is stripped down to its basic elements — a simple acoustic shuffle and a gentle cascade of vocals — showing that there’s actually a sprightly little melody hiding under all of Lana’s morose trappings.

It seems pretty clear that this is better than any off-the-cuff unplugged take Lana could offer up, right? That’s not meant as a dig against LDR, it’s just that we know she has a tough time re-creating the the beauty of her tracks in a live setting. OK so maybe it is a dig against her. Anyway, see the cover up top, and check out 5H’s tweet soliciting the opinions of Harmonizers below.
