Listen! Sometimes the music buying public makes mistakes. Sometimes they let a song like Christina Aguilera‘s Max Martin-produced banger “Your Body,” with its genuinely great chorus and genuinely great video, flounder in the darkest recesses of the Top 40 — even with all that #LotusPromo — while a song as tediously by-the-numbers as her Pitbull sell-out “Feel This Moment,” built over that bleary A-Ha sample with all that phoned-in zeal, becomes a hit.
America: You, and only you, are responsible. They serviced “Your Body” to radio. You didn’t want it. You let Lotus, which had some absolutely killer songs, flop, while you let Pitbull’s execrable brand of suburban club rap succeed. You made this mess, and now it’s yours to clean up.
But hey! Even if “Feel This Moment” is kind of a sonic root canal, this still means that the Almighty Legendtina is getting her shine on in a new music video — and in a rare moment of social media vulnerability, she allowed a picture from the shoot to be shared online. “Who’s ready for the @Pitbull #FeelThisMoment music video?…” she tweeted playfully, posting a photo showing big Burlesque blond curls, a rather sporting leather jacket, and pants.
Pants! Christina Aguilera would do well to wear pants; she looks good in them.
No date yet on when to expect the “Feel This Moment” video, but expect Christina’s hair to be big. And maybe “Let There Be Love” will be a huge smash and the world won’t feel so terribly grim. Right? Right.
