Carly Rae Jepsen has teamed up with American Idol and Coca-Cola for their Perfect Harmony campaign, which allows Idol viewers to choose lyrics to a song written by Jepsen. The new track is called “Take a Picture,” and fans will get to vote on their favorite lines, beginning with the lyrics for the first verse today (March 20). Once all the lyrics are settled, Carly will perform the song on the live Idol finale — crazy how that timing works out.

Jepsen told MTV that she joined the campaign partly because she liked the challenge of having to write three versions of a song, and also because she looked forward to getting fan feedback. “I loved the idea that it was a massive collaboration,” she said. “I know even with this past year, it’s been a big part of my process, hearing what the fans love.” As for what “Take a Picture” is about? “I created a summer-themed idea and there’s three different lyrics options and it’s all kind of about the things I love about summer basically,” she said.

Last season on Idol, Jason Derulo headed the Perfect Harmony campaign, resulting in his song “Undefeated.”
