‘Spring Breakers’: Critique Selena Gomez’s Bad Girl Debut On Twitter!

Erika Brooks Adickman | March 25, 2013 10:48 am

We assume that by now you’ve finally recovered from the 94 minutes of debauchery and mayhem known as Spring Breakers, which is good because we’ve got some serious film critiquing to do — and we want your help. The Harmony Korine flick promised us Selena Gomez in her breakout bad girl role, a shocking and gritty plot and, well, boobs. But now that you’ve had a chance to return from this mental vacation, it’s time for us to answer the sobering question: Did Spring Breakers live up to its hype? To answer that we’ll be having a good ole fashioned open forum on Twitter today (Monday, March 25) at 5pm EST. So grab your tanning oil and jump below for details on how to be the Ebert to our Roeper.

We will be moderating the questions for this discussion, allowing all of you to feel like you’re sitting in on a cinema studies class for one afternoon. Chime in with your thoughtful responses using the hashtag #IdolatorFilmCritics. Just remember to keep your comments high brow — or at the very least, clean. And just a reminder that everyone who participates will get a follow back from us!

To get the wheels turning, here are a few topics we’ll be covering:

  • Selena Gomez & Vanessa Hundges: who had the better performance?
  • Was the film overly stylized or brilliant?
  • Spring Break forever or Spring Break never again?
  • Is Selena a “Bad Girl” now?
  • Best use of a Britney Spears song in a movie ever?
