Adele Is Back In The Studio & Enlisted A Couple Of Florence Welch’s Producers: Report

Adele is back in the studio working on her 21 follow-up, and for the album she has recruited masters of mature British pop James Ford and Kid Harpoon, according to The Sun. Ford previously worked with Florence + The Machine on both her albums, while Kid Harpoon produced tracks on Florence’s Ceremonials and Jessie Ware‘s Devotion. Though Paul Epworth wasn’t mentioned in the story, we’d find it hard to imagine Adele ditching him after all the success they’ve had as a songwriting team.

“Adele wants to move with the times and is trying to make her new record sound as edgy as possible,” a source told the paper. Now a mother and in a happy relationship, it’s entirely possible the change in direction will be accompanied by a change in themes. Although, we know she can do fiction (see: “Skyfall”), so hopefully she’ll still give us a few scorched earth tell-offs and tear-jerking ballads.
