Just before their upcoming Package Tour with fellow male vocal groups New Kids On The Block and Boyz II Men, the reunited gents of 98 Degrees will release 2.0, their first album of new material in 13 years, on May 7. And ahead of that, Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons have offered up “Microphone,” the LP’s dance-pop-infused first single.

Idolator sat down with 98 Degrees on Friday (April 5) at Manhattan’s Dream Hotel, a day after the quartet gave their very first live performance of “Microphone” on the Today Show. Watch Drew Lachey reflect on how he thinks they did during the Today taping above.

“The first time you ever perform a song, you never know what the reaction’s gonna be,” Drew told us. “You never know how it’s gonna sit, vocally, what the issues are gonna be with the band.”

Still, he goes on to note that everything came together nicely for the guys on Today, between the vocals, the band and the choreography.

“We’re back,” Drew says. “There’s no rust here. We’re gonna come back and be stronger than ever, and our vocals are stronger than ever. I think our stage show is gonna be stronger than ever, as well.”

Check out the guys’ performance here. We’re certainly convinced — are you?

“Microphone” is available on iTunes now.
