Season 10 American Idol champ Scotty McCreery is a busy guy: he’s headlining his own tour, working on his second album and taking a full course load at North Carolina State University. In addition to all of that, he’ll be performing the lead single of his sophomore effort live on tonight’s episode of Idol.

The brand new song, called “See You Tonight,” is a sweet country-pop number with a catchy chorus and plenty of twang. It features Scotty’s signature, rich bass voice and plenty of steel guitar (this is country, after all!) as he sings to a girl who he can’t go even a night without seeing. The tune is heavily guitar-based and full of charming lines like “but I would drive a million miles/just to see your little smile in real life.”

Scotty is joined by a backup singers in the chorus, who fill out the vocals nicely. Overall, the song maintains the sweet and wholesome image the young Idol winner has cultivated. Listen to the new single below.
