Sometimes, tiny little moments happen on TV that make us feel all mushy and warrant repeat plays. Such was the case on the Tonight Show last night (April 12), when Jay Leno had Adam Levine on to chat about his shenanigans on The Voice and his new fragrance line, as well as Cyndi Lauper, who discussed the new smash Broadway musical Kinky Boots (which she wrote the music and lyrics for) and her upcoming She’s So Unusual 30th anniversary tour.

Regardless of what they were each shilling, the best bit happened as Cyndi sat down beside Adam and he declared, “I love you. I think you’re so awesome. You’re just an amazing, interesting, brilliant human being and I’ve always wanted to tell you that. So I waited till national television.”

Lauper clutched Levine’s hand, patted him on the shoulder and gave a classic “Cyndi” response: “Hey, you’re not too shabby yourself, buddy.”

The pop icon proceeded to chatter on about performing at the White House in a manner that once again proves she always has been and always will be living on Planet Cyndi. Then she offered up a custom-made pair of kinky boots to Leno, which she suggested he wear when he goes zipping around the L.A. ‘burbs on his motorcycle.

Still so unusual, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
