After literal months of screaming, shouting and letting it all out, today the gods smiled upon us, parted the clouds of our spirits, and let a little beam of hope shine through: Britney Spears has announced that she’s recording a song for the soundtrack to the upcoming film The Smurfs 2 (“an illustrious cinematic masterpiece,” critics will probably say upon its release), a song called — wait for it! — “Ooh La La.” Ooh la la, indeed.

According to a tweet from Spears herself (read: her social media manager), “Ooh La La” is the song referenced several few months ago when Spears tweeted that she was in the studio working on a new song for her “boys.” Then, we speculated that she was talking about her gay fan base; turns out she actually meant her children. Trying really hard not to be too bitter about that.

No word yet on a release date, but given that The Smurfs 2 is slated for a July 31 release, it’s got to be — well, before then.
