Beyonce is sticking with tradition for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour — nothin’ but hits! — and accordingly, the first opening act she’s selected for the European leg of her tour is a familiar face: Luke James, the New Orleans-based R&B vocalist who previously opened for Beyonce during her Atlantic City shows last summer (and also was featured in her “Run the World (Girls)” video). James is also managed by Bey’s creative director, so — y’know — way to keep it in the family.

“Luke James is a gifted singer and songwriter and what he does on stage with his pure falsetto is incredible,” Beyonce said in a statement. “I am excited to have him join the tour and to introduce this soulful singer to an audience in Europe that will be discovering a true star.”

James, who’s working on a pre-album and an official debut via N.A.R.S/Island Def Jam, called it “an unimaginable honor” and “a blessing that I do not take lightly,” which feels appropriately reverent.

James’ gig on Bey’s tour begins April 24 in Paris and continues through May 29 in Stockholm (with the exception of Oslo, where Bey’s opening act will be a fjord).
