RaVaughn Is Tired Of Basic Fake Chicks In “Best Friend”: Watch The Lyric Video
R&B songstress RaVaughn has been making waves since signing with Ne-Yo‘s Compound Entertainment and dropping her first single, the Wale-assisted “Better Be Good,” but she’s grabbed our attention most effectively with her new single, “Best Friend,” for which the lyric video was just released.
An acoustic, guitar-driven track with RaVaughn’s smoky vocals sounds sweet as could be, until she hits the chorus and sings, “I’m not your fuckin’ best friend / I’ve been sitting on this bench too long while you’re playing with these basic fake chicks.” (Yikes.) Then a skittering midtempo beat drops, building to a smooth finish.
It’s equal parts lovely affection and exhausted spite, and it works gorgeously.
