Nicki Minaj “Killed Her Verse” On A Remix Of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Tonight I’m Getting Over You”

Scientific fact: Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” is one of the best pop singles of the year, and it’s been commercially and critically under appreciated, proving that there is no justice in the world. Now, perhaps, all that’s about to change, since Jepsen’s manager Scooter Braun (who also handles Justin Bieber, so he might have his hands full right now) has tapped Nicki Minaj to add a guest verse to the track. All hail the rent-a-rapper radio remix!

“Nicki killed the verse and it’s great,” Braun told MTV News. “When Carly Rae and Nicki get together, they make songs about getting over guys [and] whenever girls do songs about getting over men, they seem to do really well.”

It’s a grave injustice that Jepsen, whose LP Kiss remains on heavy rotation over six months later (because it’s really, really great), even requires a Minaj-sized liferaft to save her from the waters of one-hit-wonder obscurity, but it might do just the trick. According to Braun, the “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” remix will drop this week.

Now, let’s see if radio takes the hint.
