The Wanted may have released the year’s most mortifying/genius song with “Walks Like Rihanna,” but their American takeover is about to get a little boost courtesy of their upcoming E! reality show The Wanted Life. Following the lead of the initially-promising-but-ultimately-very-disappointing Chasing the Saturdays, which followed a fellow UK five-piece pop act on their (mostly unsuccessful) stateside takeover, The Wanted Life probably has a more winning formula in that it’s actually giving us a band many Americans already know. (If nothing else, they can maybe hum the tune to “Glad You Came.” Right? Right.)
The teaser doesn’t give us too much information — singer Max George explains, “When we first started, we had these dreams of success and touring the world,” which isn’t a particularly distinctive or illuminating quote — and there’s allusions to all kinds of drama, but no word yet on whether Max George’s relationship with Lindsay Lohan be explored, which is the real pull.
At any rate, we’ll probably watch out of a perverse curiosity — they’re an interesting cast of characters, to be sure — or perhaps to see if any of the boys’ assorted hook-ups have a walk like Rihanna. That would be a good piece of context.
Watch up top.
