Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love” Gets A Flapper Remake For ‘The Great Gatsby’: Hear Emeli Sande’s Cover

Beyonce and Andre 3000 put together a lurching, polarizing cover of Amy Winehouse‘s “Back to Black” for The Great Gatsby, and whatever your thoughts on the song, we can promise you the latest cover from the film’s soundtrack won’t be nearly as controversial. Bey submitted her own hit to the cover treatment, with Emeli Sande and the Bryan Ferry Orchestra transforming “Crazy in Love” into a jazzy ’20s jaunt.

This version is a fun little exercise in period homage. In fact, it works so well that it’s hard to believe it took this long for somebody to notice how perfectly Bey’s circular melody translates to talk-y trumpets and a stand-up bass. We’re going to assume Baz Luhrmann will use the song as flapper girls do the Charleston at one of Jay Gatsby’s extravagant soirees. Hear the cover below.
