Rick Ross has premiered the video for “Box Chevy,” off his forthcoming album Mastermind. Actually, it’s no mere music video, it’s a 10-minute “Dre Films/Maybach Films Picture.” The tale follows a couple dudes plotting to rob Rozay, that fearsome drug kingpin, and there’s plenty of double-crossing, twerking and flashbacking. Add in a bevy of expensive cars, and it all feels like those blockbuster hip-hop videos of the late ’90s, like “Hypnotize.” See how the tale ends up top.

OK so the video is pretty epic. But how’s the song? Well, to be honest, it sounds like every other ominous Bawse banger. Like Drake in “Started from the Bottom,” Ross in the chorus reminds everyone he “started wit’ that box Chevy / Then I got that blue Lexus.” Working in the song’s favor, though is the fact that it could be interpreted as a defiant message to whichever of Rick’s real-life enemies tried to gun him down earlier this year, which gives the track some added weight.
