Whatcha Say: Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez & Adam Lambert Got Our Readers Talking

May 10th, 2013 // 4 Comments

This week’s Ibrawlator got a bit heated as our readers shared their thoughts on who should be in the American Idol Top 3. (Check out the results!)

American Idol was no doubt the theme for this week as both veterans and current judges made headlines in the Pop world. The Lambs overlooked the unnecessary hashtag and praised the throwback sound of Mariah Carey and Miguel‘s “#Beautiful”, while Jennifer Lopez‘s “Live It Up” track with Pitbull failed to make an impact. There was also brewing anticipation for Adam Lambert’s upcoming performance on the show’s finale with Angie Miller.

Check out some of this week’s best comments below!

:: Allison shared her love for Mariah Carey & Miguel’s “Beautiful”: Hear The Comeback Single, saying “It’s pure-pop, Motown-era goodness. It’s so subtle and leaves you wanting more, which I can’t help but think was purposeful (for track repeats). This should be a big milestone in both of their careers. I thought this was going to be some R&B-flavored Mariah take on Miguel’s flavor, but it’s just a perfect, breezy, windows down tune for all ages to enjoy.”

:: Jus10 was also very excited: “YESSSSSSS! This song is preciously gorgeous! It’s good to hear some good ol’ R&B! Well done Mimi!”

:: It seems like J.Lo’s won’t be getting another hit, at least according to Marie800 who sounded off on Jennifer Lopez & Pitbull’s “Live It Up”: Listen To The Obvious Summer Smash: “It’s awful! generic, outdated and let’s not discuss the lyrics. “Let’s f** tonight”. Really? It will flop like her other singles.”

:: Drew threw some shade at King Bey on Kelly Rowland’s “Dirty Laundry”: Watch A Teaser For Her Next Single: “This sounds REEEEEAAAAALLLL good. God, I wish she would surpass King Beyonce…. so much more talented….she doesn’t squeal when she sings. And she also doesn’t need a Pepsi commercial to unveil a single (oh wait…that wasn’t a single…)”

:: American Idol fans can’t wait for Adam Lambert To Perform on ‘American Idol’ Finale With Angie Miller, including Sherry Sullivan: ”This season has been so boring and lack luster which has given me no incentive to watch. Adam is the most exciting contestant to ever grace AI stage in all 12 seasons. Can’t wait to see him again.”

:: Jay, on the other hand, is completely over it after news broke that Yo! Yo! Yo! Randy Jackson Is Leaving ‘American Idol’: “I think its about time they cancelled this show. The show has become quite irrelevant and its ratings seem to show that no one quite cares anymore (blame Nicki, blame Mariah, blame Jennifer, blame Steven Tyler…etc…no one cares).”

:: Finally, Lee Lithophilus wraps it up with his comment on Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get It” Video: Watch The Expansive Clip: “I feel like if she made more stuff like this, she’d be able to contend with the bigger names in the pop world and finally get out of child to adult pop star purgatory.”

Adam Lambert was the one that made this American-Idol show interesting. Before him, no one had ever heard a voice like that, at least on the show. He overpowered every contestant that’s ever been on the show and ever will be on the show. Viewers tune in solely to see if there’s another Adam Lambert and then turn off the TV, disappointed, time and time again. The judges are also to blame because theyr’e unable to render constructive, helpful criticism. They say positive things they don’t mean to avoid hurting the contestants’ feelings. Also, Adam was the first contestant ever to get a standing ovation from all three judges and now standing ovations are regular in this show. They’ve lost their meaning. I won’t watch unless Adam Lambert’s on.

After Adam – AI has been a big fail. The judges are stale and/or self absorbed. As a judge, J Lo has had her turn – not a loss – don’t want to see her return.. Maybe AI can’t be revived? Would definitely watch again if Adam was mentoring/judging.

Adam Lambert was the best contestant A.I. ever had on their show. He was interesting, creative and what a fantastic voice! Every week I couldn’t wait to see what he would sing next. And after his season, I never watched Idol again. Too boring and lackluster and the judges were useless in their critiques. I would love to see Adam return as a judge next season, then the show would become exciting and refreshing again.

AMEN HALLELUIA!!! No one has come close to Adam. If the producers have half a brain they will tap him to be a judge so there can be some REAL feedback and learning on the show. MAKE ADAM A JUDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
