Katy B’s “What Love Is Made Of”: Hear The Pounding Dance Track

Katy B was my obsession for awhile — few could rival the English chanteuse’s lo-fi garage-inflected pop, shot through with dubstep and drum-and-bass, which was on full display in 2011’s On a Mission LP and last year’s exceptional Danger EP — and she’s shaping up to be again with the sound of her new single, “What Love Is Made Of.” The song, just premiered on Annie Mac‘s BBC Radio 1 show, is probably the biggest thing she’s recorded to date: The ’90s groove is timely enough, but her vocals sound more powerful than before, and the melody is absolutely instantaneous.

It’s rave-y, it’s trance-y, and it deserves to be a club hit. (Also, is it just me or is she starting to sound more and more like Siobhan Donaghy? Which is a great thing.)

Listen below.
