Little Boots Tells Us The 7 Things You Need To Know About ‘Nocturnes’: Watch

It’s been nearly four years since Little Boots‘ debut LP Hands arrived, and there’s a pretty solid reason it took so long for Victoria Hesketh to craft its follow-up, the perfectly moody, just-released Nocturnes.

“Everything is throwaway — and not just music — nowadays,” Hesketh told Idolator last week, just before her concert at New York’s Music Hall Of Williamsburg. “It’s just designed to break or designed for you to get bored of it… So it was really important to take the time to craft all the sounds and just try to make it sound one of the more legendary albums that I love.”

Victoria was clearly upbeat when we spoke, given that her New York show just happened to coincide with the day of Nocturnes‘ release in the US. She was also extremely candid, at one point noting that she’d rather perform a song on stage live and have it go horribly wrong than “go on my laptop and mime along, which is what half the people are doing.”

For the record, her gig at the Music Hall was brilliant, and nothing broke while on stage…except maybe the audience’s collective heart during a few of the more beautifully somber numbers.
