Angel Haze Debuts Lead Single “No Bueno”: Listen
Angel Haze, the much-hyped rapstress and occasional instigator of beef with fellow hot-tempered femcee Azealia Banks, has finally released her lead single, “No Bueno.” And it’s good! Hard-hitting and aggressive: Maybe not quite as furious as Banks’ “Yung Rapunxel,” but there’s a similar rage that’s refreshing to hear. Haze proved her mettle with desperately honest tracks like “Cleaning Out My Closet,” but here, she’s all pride and swagger: “This situation is below me / I’m your fuckin’ motivation, bitch you owe me.”
There’s a nice tension between her vulnerability and her arrogance, and that makes her one to watch, even if her splashiest attention to date involved hurling slurs back and forth at Azealia Banks, but Haze is better than that. If there isn’t anything radio-friendly about “No Bueno,” it should still earn her the right kinds of attention.
