The Dolls Make A Grand Debut With “Summer Of ’93”: Idolator Premiere

Chances are, you’ve already heard at least one half of The Dolls: They’re comprised of internationally renowned DJ Mia Moretti (who featured in her good friend Katy Perry‘s Part of Me 3D documentary) and Margot, also known as Caitlin Moe, a superstar violinist who, as it turns out, is a gifted vocalist in her own right. Although they’ve been working together for several years, their creative collaboration takes new form as The Dolls, a pop duo poised to make a big splash in 2013 with gorgeously glitchy pop — and Idolator is stoked to premiere their first single, “Summer Of ’93.”

Dreamy vocals glide along layered instrumentation and a skittering, aerobic backbeat, while the chorus swells to a lush peak. The production evokes Ellie Goulding at her best, with a little more ’90s kick (think Portishead) and lyrics that are finely drawn in their nostalgic pull.

It’s an incredibly promising debut that’s destined to become a central piece of your summer playlist — and you can download it for free below.
