The Voice has long been NBC’s most popular show, but alas — the talent competition has seen flagging ratings in recent weeks, even as its season finale approaches in just a week’s time. As Billboard notes, the show had 11.3 million viewers on Monday and 10.9 million on Tuesday, but that’s a sharp decline from the 14 million viewers the show was snagging in mid-April; last week’s numbers were below average for the season, especially among young viewers.
The explanation? Everyone misses Christina Aguilera.
Haha, no, just kidding! With summer in full swing, viewership often declines as the weather warms up, and the early episodes of The Voice tend to be most popular because of the blind auditions, so it’s not too much of a surprise.
