Eli “Paperboy” Reed Gets Funky With “WooHoo”: Idolator Premiere

Mainstream radio may be overrun with EDM, but Eli “Paperboy” Reed is bringing back an old-school sound: The Massachusetts-bred artist has a soulful new single called “WooHoo” — which Idolator is thrilled to premiere. The song is full of funky hi-hats, rumbling bass and even a call and response: Think Bruno Mars plus Adam Levine, set at a Great Gatsby dance party. It’s a big sound, immediately infectious and impossible to resist.

“I wrote it with some people who are making some pretty crazy music right now: Ricky Reed from Wallpaper, Ross Golan and Axident,” Reed told us. “I hope everybody enjoys it and I can’t wait to get more music out and to hit the road supporting this album.”

Paperboy signed to Warner Records last year and is currently working on his fourth LP, which he’s set to release this fall — and he’s even earned a stamp of approval from Beyonce, who posted his doo-wop version of “Love On Top” on her official website.

“To get recognition from the source is pretty unbelievable,” Reed said. “If I had known in advance, I would have picked a different shirt to wear, but I’m still pretty excited.”
