Yes, anticipation is running high for the debut single from reformed-from-the-ashes-of-Sugababes girl group Mutya Keisha Siobhan, who are arguably the most exciting thing to happen in pop music this summer. Their new single “Flatline” drops soon (very soon, hopefully), but today a one-minute snippet of the song was unveiled and oh man, it’s just so good.
Produced by “small pop” superstar Dev Hynes (Solange‘s “Losing You” and Sky Ferreira‘s “Everything Is Embarrassing,” notably), the song has a few features that feel significant: Epic, soaring production (check); astonishingly lush harmonies (check); and gorgeously sad, brilliant lyrics (check).
