Nas Joins J. Cole’s “Let Nas Down” For The Remix: Hear Nas Pass The Torch

One of the most captivating moments on J. Cole‘s Born Sinner was his “Big Brother”-esque song “Let Nas Down.” As Vibe points out, Cole was inspired to write the track after No I.D. told him Nas wasn’t a fan of “Work Out,” the lead single off Cole World: The Sideline Story. The track is an emotionally complex response that found Cole expressing disappointment and resentment about his failure to impress his idol. But he can breathe a sigh of relief: the masterful Queensbridge MC has hopped onto the remix.

The mere fact that Nas is on the track is a huge co-sign, but he takes it further, overtly reassuring Cole and saying he was offering advice, before finishing with “You ain’t let Nas down / How that sound, here the crown / Pass it to you like nothin’.” No gray area there.
