Britney Spears Nudges Closer To Rihanna’s Pop Record

Britney Spears is inching closer to Rihanna‘s ‘Pop Songs’ chart record. “Oh La La” debuts at number 22 on Billboard’s pop airplay chart this week, making it the enduring diva’s 31st entry. That’s enough to overtake Mariah Carey – who has a grand tally of 30 – but still leaves her shy of RiRi’s record 36 entries. With a new album on the way, the 31-year-old diva could narrow the gap even further over the following months.

Brit’s contribution to The Smurfs 2 soundtrack also marks her second highest debut on the ‘Pop Songs’ chart. It was only bettered by 2011’s “Hold It Against Me”, which landed at number 16. It looks like the pop veteran has another smash on her hands.

Do you think Britney will eventually overtake Rihanna on the chart? Let us know in the comments.
