One Direction Announce New Single “Best Song Ever,” Seriously

Tousle-headed coiffure superstars One Direction have a brand new single coming out, and it has a devastatingly apropos title: Yes, the boys’ latest tune is titled “Best Song Ever,” according to a new press release. (Can you imagine the conversation that went into picking that song? “How about ‘Walks Like Rihanna’?” “No, that’s dumb, let’s do something with a little more gravitas to it.” “Okay, like ‘Best Song Ever’?” “Yeah, that’s perfect!”)

The track is the first to be released from their third album, due out later this year on Columbia Records; the single will be released on Monday, July 22, so gird your loins or whatever. 

Other bits and pieces of news: 1D will open the 2013 Teen Choice Awards with the debut television performance of the song; the TCAs will broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, August 11 on FOX. My calendar is marked.

But most importantly, they’ll be teasing their upcoming 3D film This Is Us with a new trailer later today launching on their VEVO channel, which will include a snippet of “Best Song Ever.”
