Keri Hilson (who, it should be noted, is credited in the above agency photo as “Stunning Pop Artist Keri Hilson,” so put that in your pipe and smoke it, haters) was making promotional rounds in New York City last week, talkin’ bout her new record, which she’s been in the studio cooking up. Sounds like this pretty girl can still rock! (I worked on that line for a really long time.)

On the subject of her hiatus from music, she had this to say: “Musically, I did take a break. It seemed long to everyone, but it was a pretty brief hiatus. But I’m back in the studio, putting together my album. We are pretty close to choosing the single. We’ve thought we have chosen the single. We are almost there.”

As for her “Knock You Down” collaborator Kanye West, sounds like the “Breaking Point” chart-topper has already teamed up with him on some new tracks: “I already have throughout my break,” she said of Yeezy. “I’ve actually worked with him. I can’t say much about it, but it was awesome. He’s a genius. I really, really enjoyed working with him.”

And then she said this:

The music is going to speak for itself. I don’t think I need to re-introduce myself to the world. I’ve been blessed to have fans all over the world. I know that they will hold me down and spread the word. My entrance into the industry was so organic. I love that. It was kind of word of mouth driven. Social networking driven to tell people. It’s driven all by the music. It’s not from my fashion. It’s not from anything but my lyrics. Just the songs. The music and the feeling people get from it. I’m most proud about that. I think this time around it will be the same way with a bigger impact.
