Rebecca Black relates to Miley Cyrus, in the sense that both of them like to have fun, fun, fun, fun. But in a new cover of “We Can’t Stop,” Black breaks down exactly how to do it her way through a few choice edits. “To all my homegirls living it up, feeling alive and are in love / Remember, only God can judge us, forget the haters, ’cause somebody loves ya,” she sings.

On YouTube Black points out that she’s only 16, which is why she didn’t want to sing about strip clubs. (She didn’t want to sing about doing lines in the bathroom, either: “Everyone acting like they know you / So vague, acting like they’re so cool / We all so turnt up yeah, getting turnt up, yeah.”) Still, her G-rated version is worth hearing.

While backed by acoustic strums and a soft piano, Black and singer Jon D‘s harmonies add an element of yearning to Cyrus’ lyrics, transforming “We Can’t Stop” into a bona fide country pop number. Their unexpected take feels totally appropriate for the morning after, or whenever the partying actually does stop. Watch the version up top.
