Since 2010, Lady Gaga has been involved in a string of lawsuits from people who have attempted to cash in on her success. While such lawsuits barely deterred her rise to Most Powerful Musician status, Gaga may have taken legal action to prevent one such case from damaging her reputation.

TMZ reports that the ARTPOP star filed documents to prevent certain “sensitive, private and personal information” from being used in a lawsuit between former collaborator Wendy Starland and former producer Rob Fusari. Starland had sued Fusari in 2010, claiming that he screwed her out of revenues she earned for helping discover Lady Gaga.

According to Starland’s lawsuit, Fusari had instructed her to help find a “unique” female artist under age 25, “who could be the female equivalent of the lead singer of the band the Strokes.” Starland’s lawsuit arrived soon after Fusari attempted to sue Lady Gaga for $30.5 million, claiming that she ditched him despite his efforts to transform the singer from “the young Italian girl ‘guidette’ that arrived at his doorstep.”

But while both lawsuits seemed to have aired and disputed just about every aspect of Lady Gaga’s origin story, Lady Gaga’s court documents plead that this new information would “inflict significant personal and professional harm upon” her  — a striking claim, considering that she’s, well, Lady Gaga: Global superstar, Most Powerful Musician and even a National Anthem revisionist.
