Emeli Sande jumped on Twitter this morning (July 8) to let her growing army of fans know that “My Kind Of Love” will be her next US single. It follows the Kendrick Lamar collaborator‘s stateside breakthrough “Next To Me”, which peaked at an impressive number 25 on the Hot 100.

While less gospel-influenced and subdued than her recent hit, the new single is another soulful ballad that showcases the Scottish diva’s gorgeous voice. It was a top 20 hit in the UK more than a year ago but interestingly remains one of the Great Gatsby soundtrack contributor‘s lowest charting songs in that market.

Do you think Emeli would have been wiser to re-release “Heaven” or go with UK top 5 smash “Clown” in the US? Watch the elegant video for “My Kind Of Love” (below) and let us know in the comments.

Heaven or Clown would definitely be better. I still think Heaven is one of the best songs I’ve heard in 5 years or so. My Kind of Love pales near those other 2 songs.

  2. My Kind of Love would be a good choice. But I do think “Heaven” or “Wonder” would be better.
It may have been that most anyone can connect to the lyrics in MKOL, and connect fast. So it may resonate.
    We’ll see.

Heaven is greaaaat but I’ve always thought MKOL would get the most fans in the US. Lifetime would be good in a movie soundtrack.
