Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ To Get “Very Special” Vinyl Release Through Jack White’s Label

Jay-Z during his Twitter Q&A on Monday (July 8) revealed that he left “Open Letter” off Magna Carta Holy Grail because he’s releasing it on an exclusive “playable letter” vinyl through Third Man Records. Jack White‘s imprint has confirmed that news, adding that they’ll also be releasing MCHG on vinyl later this year.

A statement on the label’s site revealed “Third Man has something very special planned for the vinyl edition which will be made available for purchase in the coming weeks.”

Jay and White previously worked together for the wax release of the soundtrack to The Great Gatsby, which Jay curated. Third Man is known for its eccentric, extravagant vinyl packages — for Gatsby, White put together a $250 special edition double LP which featured “the first ever commercially released gold and platinum metallic LPs” — so we’re curious to see how they’ll try to top that for Jay’s opus.
