Adam Lambert’s Best Covers: Why The Pop Singer Is Perfect For ‘Glee’

When news broke that Adam Lambert would be joining the cast of Glee, we immediately began to think of the performances his appearance would bring. Both Glee and Lambert are notable for delivering impeccable renditions of pop songs, making his stint on the show’s upcoming fifth season a no-brainer. While the singer has made a name for himself with his own material, his introduction to the public was singing covers on a little show called American Idol

“Titanium” — David Guetta & Sia

Lambert returned to his old stomping grounds to perform a stripped-back version of the David Guetta dance hit with Angie Miller on the Season 12 Idol finale.

“Bowie Medley” — David Bowie

Citing David Bowie as the one of the his main inspirations, on the American Idol Season 8 tour Lambert performed a three-song medley consisting of “Life On Mars,” “Fame” and “Let’s Dance.”

“Black Or White” — Michael Jackson

Lambert’s firework vocals are front-and-center in his performance of Michael Jackson‘s 1991 hit during Top 13 week on American Idol. 

“Is This Love” — Bob Marley & The Wailers

In a slightly unexpected twist, Lambert showed his diversity by performing this Bob Marley cover at a show in Sydney, Australia.

“Somebody To Love” — Queen

In 2012, Lambert had the opportunity of a lifetime, performing a handful of European shows with Queen, taking over the frontman position from the late, great Freddie Mercury.

“Stay” — Rihanna

While the Rihanna hit is probably one of the year’s most covered songs, Lambert’s vulnerable, yet confidence rendition puts him at the top of the pack.

“The Tracks Of My Tears” — The Miracles

Lambert performs Smokey Robinson‘s 1965 Motown ballad on Idol, giving it his own personal twist and receiving accolades from Simon Cowell and rest of the judging panel.

“Mad World” — Tears For Fears

Lambert paired up with Cyndi Lauper at her all-star Home For The Holidays benefit in December 2012 to perform “Mad World” in the style of Gary Jules‘ cover, and it is perhaps the most famous of all the singer’s Idol covers.
