LL Cool J recently spoke to Diddy‘s Revolt TV about the controversial release method of Jay-Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail, which was given to one million Samsung users for free (as long as they provided some personal information, but that’s a whole other story). And the iconic MC isn’t exactly down with the giveaway dynamic.
“As an artist I still want to be able to touch the people individually. It still matters to me that people individually went out and bought my record,” he said. “Although I still think a million sold is a million sold…I like to know that a million people went out and bought my album, not that I sold a million records to a company, that’s different.” LL did add that he agrees with the RIAA’s move to instantly certify MCHG with Platinum status.
