Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” is an undisputed smash, partly thanks to the risque video. And that’s also why the track has made its climb amidst a fair share of controversy. So Thicke himself came out to defend the concept behind the whole thing, pointing out that his wife was a big proponent of the NSFW visual. Just Tuesday, the video’s director, Diane Martel, explained she stubbornly refused to scrap her nude idea. And now in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Pharrell offered his take.

“We were trying to make a moving version of a page in Vogue, where you might see a woman’s breast,” the song’s producer and lead yelper explains. “I know the video has caused some controversy, but my admiration for women supersedes anything I could ever say. We all come through the conduit of the bodies of beautiful women.”

So, case closed, right? Now let’s replicate this exact cycle for Justin Timberlake‘s “Tunnel Vision” video, shall we?
