The critically acclaimed, Stuart Price-produced Electric marks the 12th studio album from the Pet Shop Boys, and it’s already a big hit in the duo’s home country. Yesterday the dance-leaning, nine-song LP debuted at #3 on the official UK album chart, thus becoming not only Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe‘s 12th consecutive Top 10 studio album, but also their highest-charting one since their 1993 pop masterpiece Very clocked in at #1.

Following this feat, the Pet Shop Boys announced today that the giddy “Love Is A Bourgeois Construct” will be Electric‘s  follow-up single to “Vocal.” Full details have yet to be revealed, but the pair’s official site does note the single release will be accompanied “by remixes and the brand new songs ‘Entschuldigung!’ and ‘Get it online’.”

If you’ve yet to listen, “Love Is A Bourgeois Construct” interpolates Michael Nyman’s “Chasing Sheep Is Best Left To Shepherds,” which itself is based on music from composer Henry Purcell‘s opera King Arthur — you know, an obvious go-to for pop artists these days.

And with that, here’s the Pet Shop Boys’ take on it all:
