Mac Miller Gets Introspective In The Video For “I Am Who Am (Killin’ Time)”
Rapper Mac Miller has dropped his newest music video, for “I Am Who Am (Killin’ Time)” featuring Niki Randa — and though he rose to fame as a “frat rapper,” Miller takes an introspective turn in the latest single off his sophomore album Watching Movies With The Sound Off, opting for a more serious tone than the party anthems for which he’s best known.
The clip provides a relatively simple visual to accompany the track, with shots of Miller smoking a cigarette in a room filled with lights hanging from the ceiling, intertwined with footage of a woman in a white dress swimming in a pool of water and dancing in a room of mirrors. It’s minimal, but effective, complementing the track’s ethereal production.
No jokes are to be had here: Miller totes a handful of self-reflective lyrics like “Life’s so precious, Lord knows that life is so precious / Fight to the death, til’ there’s nobody left / You’re holding your breath because you might get infected / I’m animalistic, instinctively thinking I’m getting ballistic.”
