Beyonce’s “Standing On The Sun” Gets A Reggae Mix That Might Even Be Official: Listen

I’ve given up on trying to keep up with what’s going on with Beyonce — there’s just no point! It’s a losing battle. That said, today a remix of her H&M commercial jingle “Standing On The Sun” surfaced online, and it has a rap breakdown that wasn’t in the “leaked” version (or was it a demo, or was it fanmade from various snippets — I don’t know and it doesn’t matter), which is leading some fans to speculate that it’s indeed an official remix, which would mean that the song is being prepped for a single release, which means maybe Beyonce will actually release a single sometime soon, or something. It’s all exciting, in a gravely exhausting sort of way.

So this, called “The SOS Reggae Mix,” is a totally solid reimagining of the track, injecting Greg Kurstin‘s sparkly original with some riddim and a little island flavor. Ultimately, though, this — like everything else in the last six months of Beyonce — is arriving sans context, so it’s hard to know quite what to do with, other than listen and enjoy. So that’s what I’m going to do.

Join me in that endeavor below.
