Monsieur Adi & A*M*E’s “What’s Going On”: Hear The Bonkers Dance Track

I’ve spent the last few months championing both the French house king Monsieur Adi and British songstress A*M*E: The former has helmed a string of A+ remixes for artists as diverse as monolithic superstar Beyonce to just-emerging girl group Neon Jungle, while Sierra Leone native A*M*E has demolished a string of big songs from the K-poppy “Play The Game Boy” to her monster lead single “Heartless” to her UK #1 hit “Need U (100%)” with Duke Dumont. Still, I wasn’t steeled for just how explosive the results of their collaboration would be.

In a new dance track called “What’s Going On,” Adi’s production is stuffed to the gills and madcap, with sailing orchestral strings, soaring synths and an ominous ’80s heft, while A*M*E’s vocals are urgent to the point of hysteria, hinging on an interpolation of Soul II Soul‘s “Back To Life” that’s brilliantly executed, breathing new life into that familiar hook.

It’s thoroughly awesome. Listen below.
