In song and on record, Jay Z cheekily approved of Miley Cyrusnewfound appreciation of twerking, while other corners of the Internet were more skeptical or confused about the former Disney star’s sudden, public embrace of this new hobby. But now we have the final word on the issue! Ying Yang Twins — the godfathers of twerk responsible for booty-shaking early aughts songs like “Whistle While You Twurk” and “Salt Shaker” — have weighed in. And they’re totally cool with Miley’s twerkitude. (In fact, they have a new song named after her.)

Speaking to the Village Voice, Ying Yang member D-Roc said, “She wants that to be her image[…] She can be Miley Cyrus, she can be Hannah Montana, she can be whoever the fuck she wants to be.” He added, “She’s someone you never would think would twerk, so now that she is, do the Miley Cyrus with it. Because she isn’t the first white girl to start twerking.”

His cohort Kaine chimed in, saying, “She’s the first with a name to do what she’s talking about. It’s no harm in partying and having fun until you exceed it.”

So there you go: no harm, no foul. Case closed. The twerKings have spoken.
