Mumford & Sons Get Ed Helms & Jason Bateman To Parody The Group For “Hopeless Wanderer” Video

Mumford & Sons‘ evocative performances, impassioned strumming and Civil War-chic outfits are ripe for parody, and the best way to stave off any potential jokes at your expense is to make fun of yourself. And so the band enlisted Jason Bateman, Ed Helms, Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte to portray (and parody) the group in the video for “Hopeless Wanderer.”

And, whatever your thoughts on Marcus Mumford‘s brand of earnest folk rock, this video is perfectly executed, hitting on all the Mumford tropes. There’s so much emoting. So many exposed incandescent lightbulbs. So much anachronistic gear being lugged down a dirt road (check out Bateman with two guitars, a banjo and a tambourine all hanging from his neck).

So what happens next, now that the leaders of the folk revival are self aware?
