When is a haircut more than just a haircut? When it’s Keri Russell‘s haircut! But also Beyonce. Let’s focus our energies there.

Her longtime stylist, Kim Kimble, the star of WE TV’s L.A. Hair (which is the closest thing to Queen of Jordan that exists in real life) gave an interview to PEOPLE about Bey’s dramatic hair transformation, where she revealed that, well, she had nothing to do with it, so it caught her off guard.

But at least one thing is settled: Bey didn’t just take off her wig. Her shit got shorn. “She had great, thick long hair, which she cut off because she’s ready to make a statement,” says Kimble.

And how did it feel? “I got a little teary eyed!” Kimble said. “I’ve been working for her so long, she has this beautiful long hair and it’s hard to grow hair out. I feel like it’s my hair, I work so much with her. I feel a little emotional but excited for her too. Maybe I’ll cut my hair off now. Short hair, don’t care!”

But that’s not all! No no — Rita Hazan, the stylist who actually performed Bey’s blonde dye job, also gave an interview to Fashionista, where she revealed more juicy details about what it was like to touch the hair of a literal deity: “I love working with her and she really gives me free range and I think we have built that trust,” Hazan said. “She just wanted something new and fresh, but soft.”

And that’s literally all the news that matters today. Sorry, everything else.
