Parachute’s “Meant To Be” From New Album ‘Overnight’: Idolator Premiere

Parachute has caught the attention of many since their debut back in 2009, and the Nashville-based band is now gearing up for their next release. The pop/rock quintet’s latest single “Meant To Be” — off their forthcoming third studio album Overnight — is a mid-tempo love song that strays away from the typical pop romanticism. Its upbeat guitar melody pairs well with the band’s crystal-clear harmonies, which then becomes juxtaposed by an unexpected, faintly dubstep-tinged breakdown towards the end of the track.

Lead vocalist Will Anderson compares the band’s transition in between albums to cars, naturally: “The last album was like taking a brand-new car straight off the lot. This album is just as fun to drive, but it’s like a vintage Mustang, a little more muscle and grittier, built to last.” They have worked with Asher Roth‘s producer Oren Yoel on the new album, as well as Steve Mac (The WantedKelly Clarkson) and Ashley Gorley (Carrie UnderwoodKeith Urban).

Overnight is set to release tomorrow (August 13) with the band kick-starting their tour the same day, but in the meantime listen to the exclusive premiere of “Meant To Be” below. Click here for Parachute’s end of summer tour dates.
