DJs don’t mess around these days. As soon as a track surfaces online, you can bet someone is already figuring out how to bump up the BPM. And while, these remixes can go very, very wrong — occasionally someone gets it right. Like Matt Nevin, who improved Lady Gaga‘s “Aura” or Israeli DJ Shahaf Moran. He has built a firm following with uptempo revisions of hits by Lana Del Rey, Ke$ha and most recently Beyonce.

Given that “Roar” is still so fresh, it’s initially quite disconcerting to hear it morphed into a perky floorfiller. The track definitely loses much of its hefty emotional punch in the transformation but Moran’s house makeover is big, dumb fun. And surely that’s the whole point of this kind of endeavor? Listen to a very different version of Katy Perry’s latest after the jump.
